Artist's Comments
It's been a few years since I tried to draw Rei, so I figured now was a good time to try again and see how far I've come since the 10th grade.
Had to go thru a bunch of hurdles for this one, mostly involving COLOR MANAGEMENT. I did all the coloring on a laptop, and apparently the colors on the monitor weren't true to what was being printed off (remotely). I opened the image on another cpu and it looked Pukey on that screen too. In fact, Rei's skin looked pukey everywhere BUT on the laptop. So I did some gamma tweaking with the display to match the puke tones....then I did some hue/saturation adjustments on the image to *try* and bring her tones back into the realm of the living. The end result you see here is far different then what I had last night. But the good news is 1) It's DONE and 2) my laptop is now calibrated to "real" colors, as opposed to the fictional sugar colors that never really existed (sigh). Just glad I caught it here and not 3 or 4 pics down the line. Oh, and this was done on Photoshop CS with a tablet, paper image was inked with micron pigment liner, I love Rei yadda yadda yadda. |

We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you  the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on.
